Flag KiwiSaver – Book Review
At a time when many NZ investors have either not made money in their international funds or actually lost money with
local finance companies and are now utterly confused as to what to do, author John Rofe has written a no-nonsense,
practical handbook on investing for retirement and in retirement.
Flag KiwiSaver is possibly unique among the investment books available in the market place, with its emphasis on
personal responsibility and “doing your own research”, how and in what you should be investing after you actually retire, and the multiplication of wealth through picking and studying three industry sectors where future
prospects appear the brightest. For his part, the author highlights Canadian oil sands companies, Canadian energy income
trusts, and Australian uranium miners as the industries where there are the most opportunities. While some might
disagree about which specific sectors have the greatest potential (famous international investors Jim Rogers and Marc
Faber would put new money into things like water utilities and agriculture, while Doug Casey would stick with uranium and Don Coxe with oil
sands) the concept and approach remains valid.
In all, a great and easily readable book full of sound investment insights and practical actions.
