Big Name Actors Post Trade Secrets Online For NZ'S Biggest Open Call Theatre Audition
On Monday October 15 the New Zealand public will get a rare glimpse into the mad world of auditioning when Robbie Magasiva, Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Damien Harrison and Liesha Ward Knox share personal insights, humourous anecdotes and survival tips for getting that first big break as an actor on www.opencall.co.nz
Delivered straight to camera with no rehearsal these candid, open and humourous bytes from some of New Zealand's most familiar stage and screen actors have been released in support of New Zealand's largest open call theatre audition “ OpenCall 07.
Online audiences and participants will also be highly entertained by a hilarious online audition demonstration from one of New Zealand's best-loved and well known actors - Dave Fane, who is also on the OpenCall 07 selection panel.
OpenCall 07 is a nationwide search for the country's most promising and aspiring actors between the ages of 18 and 25. Auckland Theatre Company and New Zealand Post have teamed up to launch this project and are inviting the next generation of stars to step into the spotlight. This is New Zealand Post's second year working with the Auckland Theatre Company – a company with which Post is proud to be associated. By supporting Auckland Theatre Company, New Zealand Post is helping them inspire Aucklanders to aspire by seeing the power of imagination and creativity through theatre.
To enable young people from all over New Zealand to take part, hopefuls will be able to upload a video audition via www.opencall.co.nz. The best entrants will then be invited to deliver a live audition in Auckland in November. From these auditions, 10 young actors will then be offered places in the inaugural Auckland Theatre Company summer school which will culminate in a performance of a new work, Shrew'd, in January 2008.
The OpenCall 07 selection panel also includes Colin McColl (Auckland Theatre Company, Artistic Director), Margaret-Mary Hollins (Director) and senior New Zealand actors Robyn Malcolm, Toni Potter and Craig Parker.
