Netball New Zealand Confirms Offer to Host World Netball Championships
Netball New Zealand (NNZ) confirmed today its offer to IFNA (International Federation of Netball Associations) to host the World Netball Championships.
NNZ has undertaken a scoping exercise, which confirmed the best timeframe for the World Netball Championships to be held in New Zealand was November 2007. This would ensure that the showcase event of Netball was not compromised.
NNZ Board Chair Don Mackinnon says that the November date gives NNZ the optimal timeframe to plan and execute the World Netball Championships in 2007.
“This will allow the organisation the opportunity to work successfully with key stakeholders such as sponsors and venues to host the pinnacle of International Netball”, Mackinnon said.
“Currently NNZ is working through logistical details. If we are awarded the World Netball Championships, there are several venue options we are looking at.”
NNZ understands an update from IFNA on the World Netball Championships host will be made before Christmas.
