Karl Pilkington Interview to Launch the Kiwi Summer Breakfast
The Kiwi summer breakfast with Wallace Chapman kicks off on Monday December 18 and features a very special interview with Karl Pilkington – the XFM producer and co-star of the Ricky Gervais Podcast series.
Pilkington has been described alternately as either one of the greatest comedy talents of this generation or a shaved monkey that can talk, but with a Guiness World Record 8 million podcast downloads under his belt, he’s certainly no chimp.
The Kiwi Summer Breakfast hails the return of Wallace Chapman to morning radio after hosting the Sunday brunch show on Kiwi FM for the last two months. He will replace Crash Start’s Karyn Hay and Andrew Fagan who take a well-earned break over the summer months.
Wallace describes the Kiwi Summer Breakfast as “A touch of summer malarkey with a whole lot of features you know and love and some new ones you’ll enjoy just as much.”
New features include a look at the early years with Simon Coffey, Some holiday relationship advice with Avril Richardson, On the Road with Jason and Scotty, weekly news with Scoop’s Selwyn manning, and the world’s classifieds with Darcy.
Island relations are covered off with Nick – Wallace’s estranged cousin and there’ll be a daily look around the beaches and your up-to-the-minute surf report with surf.co.nz.
The Kiwi Summer Breakfast is all part of Kiwi FM’s Summer Shuffle, which sees the network’s specialist shows take a break, replaced by seven consecutive 48-hour music weekends. There will also be feature shows from all of Kiwi FM’s daily hosts.
The 48-hour music weekends are:
December 23/24: 48 hours of Driving Radio with Jason Kerrison
December 30/31 The Best of 2006/The Kiwi FM Top 100/Out with a banger with Karyn Hay
January 6/7: The Best of the Fests with Danielle Cormack
January 13/14: Liberating radio with Fleur Jack
January 20/21: A weekend of Pleasure with James Coleman
January 27/28: Hard Working Radio with Wammo
February 3/4: The Artist Hijack with Damian Alexander
Kiwi FM resumes normal programming after it’s official birthday, Waitangi Day, February 6.
