Bic Runga event heralds the return of Millbrook’s famous concerts
The mountains and hills of Central Otago will resound to the sweet vocals of songstress Bic Runga when five-star Millbrook resort hosts her Acoustic Winery Tour in February.
Bic will take out a new band and a bagful of the finest tunes from each of her albums, including “Drive”, “Sway”, “Something Good” and “Winning Arrow”, to create a fantastic experience for fans of great music and indulgent times at the concert on Saturday, February 10.
She will join a stellar lineup of previous musicians and bands including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Chicago, The Beach Boys, and The Little River Band. Previous Millbrook concerts hosted up to 17,000 people, and the last concert was in 2004.
Bic’s concert will be a much more intimate affair, limited to three thousand people. Tickets will be $50 each and are expected to sell out rapidly. Any door sales will be at $60 a ticket.
The outdoor concert will be held on the Millbrook golf course driving range in the early evening. Gates will open at 3pm, support act Boh Runga comes on just before 5pm and Bic will be on at 6pm.
In 2006 Bic was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to music, then spent the year touring the world. Since 2000, she has recorded 345,000 album sales, making her New Zealand’s top selling artist.
Bic rounded out the year by taking her tally of NZ Music Awards to eighteen when she was awarded four Tuis for Birds including Best Female Solo Artist and Album of the Year.
Boh Runga will be performing songs from her Stellar songbook including the group’s just-released third album, Something Like Strangers.
Concertgoers will be able to purchase a selection of tasty snacks and nibbles from the Millbrook culinary team, as well as local wines, beers, and soft drinks.
Millbrook is also offering a special concert accommodation package at a cost of $215 per person, twin share, that will include the performance, and a night in a Village Inn room with a full cooked breakfast. Bookings and further information can be made through reservations@millbrook.co.nz or by calling +64 3 441 7000.
