SKY TV To Make Reality TV Series About Vodafone Warriors Cheerleaders
SKY Television announced today that a six-part reality TV series for SKY 1 will be made about the new Vodafone
Cheerleaders. The series begins filming in two weeks with the open-call auditions taking place on Saturday 16th December
at 9.30am, at the Vodafone building, 20 Viaduct Harbour Avenue in Auckland.
Producer Nick Ward says this is an exciting opportunity for people to get involved in a brand new reality TV series.
With 19 positions in the squad, and a whole bunch of exciting activities planned over the next three months, the
experience of being a Vodafone Cheerleader will be second to none. “We expect to discover some of New Zealand’s hottest
new stars within the new Vodafone Cheerleader team," says Nick.
Vodafone Cheerleader manager Rachel Holley says the judges will be looking for the whole package including attributes
like energy, enthusiasm, dance ability and personality. Anyone who thinks they have what it takes to be a cheerleader is
invited to come along and give it a shot.
The callback auditions will be held the following day on Sunday 17th December, so would-be cheerleaders must be
available for both days. More information and an application form are available online at www.warriors.co.nz.
For SKY 1 the prime-time series, which will be airing to coincide with the start of the 2007 NRL season next March,
marks a big investment in local production. SKY 1 Channel Manager Rachel Poulter says the series will follow the
recruitment, training and pre-season activities of the Vodafone Cheerleaders. “SKY 1 has been home of the Warriors since
2002, with every game airing exclusively live. We’re thrilled to be working with Vodafone to add another dimension to
our coverage and support of the Vodafone Warriors in 2007.”
