Baby boomers can mix business with pleasure this holiday season by treating themselves, colleagues and clients with concert tickets and corporate hospitality dubbed ‘the dark side of the lounge’.
Roger Waters, the creative genius behind Pink Floyd, will play his one and only New Zealand concert at North Harbour Stadium on January 29. The 165-minute spectacular will feature the complete Dark Side of the Moon, the band’s classic 1973 album.
With U2 come and gone, this gig promises to be the summer’s next big stadium rock spectacular.
North Harbour Stadium’s commercial and marketing manager, Chris Kemp, says while concert tickets always make great Christmas presents, this event also provides an ideal opportunity to host business associates.
“We’re getting a lot of interest from people who are keen to combine their love of classic rock with their responsibility to keep their employees and clients happy.
“If Time is Money, then why not enjoy spending it with colleagues and customers, us and them,” he says, quoting from the iconic album’s song titles.
The fourth track on the album, The Great Gig in the Sky, reflects the show’s pyrotechnics. In the tradition of Pink Floyd, the concert will include elaborate, grand-scale video projection, theatrical staging and a dazzling array of special effects.
Mr Kemp advises people to book their seats and hospitality packages soon to avoid disappointment. Accommodation around the Albany venue is already booked out, however the city’s Spencer on Byron hotel in Takapuna still has rooms available [0800 SPENCER – 0800 773 623].
The Dark Side of the Lounge entertainment on offer comprises:
o Option A: Premium seat in ASB Bank Lounge; reserved table with buffet dinner and cocktail; one car park per four seats; post-concert entertainment. Cost: $295 per person
o Option B: Premium seat in ASB Bank Lounge; cocktail; one car park per four seats; post-concert entertainment. Cost: $245 per person.
To make a booking people are advised to visit www.stadium.co.nz and download the booking form or email sales@stadium.co.nz.
