GrownUps Syndicates Eventfinder Content
GrownUps, the New Zealand site for the 50+ community, has entered into a content syndication agreement with Eventfinder. All of the events posted on Eventfinder.co.nz now appear in real-time on GrownUps.co.nz.
"This is a significant step for us, as our visitors now have direct access to a much larger range of events from all over New Zealand from within the GrownUps website" said Richard Poole, General Manager for Grown Ups.
"Maintaining content is a time consuming and expensive operation, therefore by working with Eventfinder to manage and populate this section on GrownUps, we achieve the best of both worlds.”
The agreement provides GrownUps with a dynamic events calendar drawn from the Eventfinder database using an XML feed. Eventfinder provided GrownUps with the application code required to display the XML feed on their website.
The syndicated content displays a nation-wide listing of events on the GrownUps website with the ability for users to navigate by location and category. Users can choose to "read more", which opens a new browser window displaying full details of the event on the Eventfinder website.
"The Eventfinder team had the feed up and running within two weeks from when we first canvassed the idea. They couldn't have made it easier for us, with a simple block of code placed in our system being the extent of our input" said Poole. "Their professionalism and willingness to be flexible with our requirements is first class."
Promoters and organisers who post their events on Eventfinder will directly benefit from the agreement, as their events will now be seen by a much broader audience. It is expected that the combined traffic of GrownUps and Eventfinder will top 50,000 unique browsers for November.
Over 3,500 events have been posted by Eventfinder's 1,300+ members so far this year.
"It's a bonus for our members who post events because the audience reach has increased considerably. We also believe it's a great addition to the GrownUps website because they now have an extensive events calendar with no on-going effort" said Eventfinder CEO Michael Turner.
"Although this is just another step in our strategic plan, we're excited about this agreement because it demonstrates our commitment to partnering with other websites. We would like the broader web community to see us as their partner for supplying event information and publishing services."
Eventfinder are currently negotiating several other syndication agreements that will increase audience reach even further. "We're aiming to have our members' events in front of 100,000 unique browsers by January" said Turner.
According to Nielsen//Netratings, Eventfinder had 17,947 unique browsers in the first half of November, breaking into the Top 100 sites in New Zealand and number 10 in the Entertainment category for domestic traffic.
The company is currently developing web services and application code for use across all types of web servers and platforms.
