Kiwi Female Crusty Demon To Complete Aj Hackett Bungy Stunt Onboard A Motorbike
Kiwi Crusty Demon and world number one female free-style motocross rider ‘Scary’ Mary Perkins is set to become the first female rider to complete an AJ Hackett Bungy off the Auckland Harbour bridge onboard a motorbike.
Crusty Demons’ promoter, Mike Porra, said at approximately 11.15 a.m. on Monday 20 November Mary will rev the motor of her mini motocross bike and give the thumbs up to onlookers, as she bungys off the Auckland Harbour Bridge to a distance of 40 metres below.
“If the weather and sea conditions are right on the day, she will also try to complete the first ever water touch down onboard the motocross bike.”
Porra said Mary’s spectacular stunt will officially launch the 2007 Kiwi Carnage Tour presented by The Rock with tickets going on sale on that date [Monday 20 November]. It will be the first stage of an all new world tour which will then move to Australia, India, China, the USA and Europe over the next 12 months.
23 year-old Mary, who is the Crusty Demons’ first and only female rider, said she is excited to be part of such an amazing stunt that is set to be a visual spectacle for onlookers.
“Naturally, I’m feeling a bit nervous about the jump,” Mary said.
“It’s a big jump and being dipped into the water on a bike will be pretty freaky.
“However, I expect it will be an awesome and exhilarating experience. I love freestyle motocross and being part of the Crusty Demons, so I can’t wait to get up there and make the stunt happen.”
Porra said Mary’s AJ Hackett Bungy stunt is what the Crusty Demons are all about - providing the most action-packed entertainment available anywhere in the world.
“The Crusty Demons’ shows are all about pushing the boundaries and Scary Mary’s stunt is certainly that. She really is one gnarly young women.”
Porra said the 2007 Kiwi Carnage Tour features an impressive rider line-up including multi X Games gold medallist and world number one Nate Adams, X Games medallist Adam Jones, Alaska’s Jimmy Blaze – the only man in the world to flip a snow mobile ramp to ramp, and California’s quad back flipper Jon Guetter.
“They’ll be joined by Australian riders Bilko Williams – a 2006 X Games medallist, Matt Schubring, Joel Balchin, Cam Sinclair and Steve Mini, all of whom are back flipping over 75ft. Kiwi riders Luke Smith, the youngest ever full Crusty Demons member 15 year-old Levi Sherwood, and, of course, Scary Mary will also be in the world tour.”
To see Mary’s groundbreaking bungy stunt, members of the public should be in view of the AJ Hackett Bungy jump area under the Auckland Harbour Bridge on Monday 20 November just before 11.15 am.
Tickets to the Crusty Demons Kiwi Carnage shows will be on sale from Monday 20 November through Ticketek (for the Christchurch and Auckland shows), and Ticket Direct (for Dunedin, Palmerston North, New Plymouth and Hamilton shows).
