Making a Joke of Political Correctness
Stuffed.co.nz - The news behind the news behind the news. As you may have guessed Stuffed is an online parody news website that is experiencing a cult like following.
Launched in July this year, Stuffed is very politically incorrect. However, it definitely has its place among New Zealand's leading sites. It is it's readers that are confirming this fact.
Stuffed has an increasing member base and has hundreds people a day checking in to read the latest articles. Created by two Hamilton based brothers as a dig at New Zealand's increasingly politically correct stance, they have been most surprised by it's sudden and ever increasing growth.
With news headlines such as; 'D.O.C given green light for Emo culling', Kiera Knightley: "I'm not anorexic, I'm just on drugs"', 'Labour to Introduce Fillings Tax', 'George Bush Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize' and 'I had Chlamydia Before it was Cool', you can see how stuffed can be highly controversial, yet leave you in hysterics.
Stuffed is actually becoming sought after advertising space given its high volume of traffic. Stuffed editor, who writes under the alias of Poorie Black muses, "What started as a fun way to have a dig at the over the top issues, people and businesses in our society, has turned into a revenue gaining enterprise. We have a lot of fun writing these articles and we get emails from people all over New Zealand thanking us for the laughs we have given them."
Although Poorie Black insures that it is all intended in good nature, he has had a few angry people upset with the articles that are either directly or indirectly aimed at them.
"Let's just say that the Destiny Church will not be accepting me as a member anytime soon. If not because of the articles I have written, then definitely because of the lack of tithes my income would generate for the church."
Stuffed says that its major demographic is an even gender mix of predominantly 25-50 year olds. Most people are reading Stuffed from work and it appeals to anyone that enjoys slightly risqué humour.
With short video clips, games, chat and articles updated everyday, this is a good reason to keep an eye on New Zealand's next biggest online community.
"We have some exciting new additions to the site coming up in the New Year which will blow the definition of politically incorrect out of the water".
Stuffed looks like it is not going to go away in a hurry. It will be either lawsuits or George Bush finding weapons of mass destruction in New Zealand that will see an end of Stuffed.
