PHONY BONE …MAKE MUSIC!!
To begin: Phony Bone write great songs.
We’ve been around for about a year and a half now, playing with a variety of bands in a variety of Auckland venues –that’s not the important part - and we are now on the verge of (actually, about a day or two before) releasing our first recordings! Five songs! “There’s at least three singles there” we said as we drove around in Graham’s blue Daihatsu, checking the final mixes, and that statement remains true even after we’ve had sufficient time to doubt it. One song’s already been tested out on a human audience - ‘Penny’ was recently included in the September issue of A Low Hum magazine, as well as a full dapper profile on the band. Also, only two weeks ago we were featured (and played pretty well) on Mikey Havoc’s ‘fancy new band’.
This recording on disc thing we did was recorded at Gundry Audio, where it was produced and mixed by the resident audio champion, Damien Golfinopoulos (who is also recording all kinds of exciting other bands lately, like Don Julio and the Hispanic Mechanic and The Romanovas).
Oh yes, and in celebration of our having concrete evidence of our music, we’re playing a couple of gigs and a UHF TV show this week, including: Thursday the 2nd at the Schooner Tavern with Dynamo Go and The Lovehaters and Friday the 3rd at Sohl Bar with Dynamo Go in Hamilton. But that’s all a bit soon. From you we just need a moment’s attention. Go to our website, try ‘Penny’.
