MTV NZ Announces Winner Of MTV VJ Search Connected By Vodafone
Friday October 27 : MTV NZ (Channel 35, SKY Digital) has just announced the winner of its nationwide presenter search
connected by Vodafone on local music programme Full Tank.
Nic Andrew, a 21-year-old advertising and marketing student originally from Tauranga, has been voted by MTV viewers as
the channel's newest VJ. Nic wins a three-month contract as a VJ for MTV NZ, a Motorola V3X 3G mobile with bluetooth
headphones from Vodafone, $100 Vodafone prepay credit, plus two tickets to attend the MTV Australia Video Music Awards.
"I was over the moon when MTV told me I'd won", says Nic, "It really hasn't sunk in yet. I am crazy, nuts for music so
to become MTV's newest VJ is an unbelievable opportunity for me."
Nic was one of 2,000 entrants in the MTV VJ Search connected by Vodafone. After auditioning at the launch of MTV NZ in
Aotea Square last August, Nic was selected as one of six finalists. Footage of the finalists screened on MTV during
October and viewers TXTed in to vote for their favourite VJ hopeful or voted for free on Vodafone live!.
"Nic's enthusiasm and on-screen charisma really made a hit with MTV viewers and we are thrilled to offer him a three
month contract," says Chris Keely, General Manager MTV New Zealand. "Its been an amazing first few months for MTV in New
Zealand and the VJ Search has shown us just how much talent and passion for music there is in this country.".
Chris Keely says MTV NZ was overwhelmed with the response to the VJ Search connected by Vodafone, both in terms of the
number of entrants and the high level of voting. "We'd like to thank Vodafone for their support by holding auditions in
their retail stores throughout the country, providing the technology for hopefuls to audition via video message using
their mobile, and giving Vodafone customers the chance to vote for free."
"ZM were also wonderful with on-air support and help from the Black Thunders at the audition locations."
