CENTREBET MEDIA RELEASE (OCTOBER 27, 2006)
Punters make Indira the favourite to win NZ Idol
Centrebet punters are betting that Indira Moala will be crowned the new NZ Idol on Sunday night.
The Auckland singer's odds with Centrebet have gone from $2.10 to $1.80 over the past fortnight.
Levin's Matt ($1.90 from $1.66) is not Centrebet's favourite for the first time since September 18.
"Bets are running two to one in favour of Indira," says Centrebet's Gerard Daffy. "Matt looks like doing what's known as a Michael Murphy - losing the final after breezing through the heats."
Centrebet is quoting short odds on Indira and Matt now but both finalists were rank outsiders when the online betting agency opened its exclusive series winner market three months ago.
Indira was $51.00 and Matt was $67.00 when Centrebet started accepting bets on August 1.
NZ Idol winner $1.80 Indira Moala $1.90 Matt Saunoa
Tri-Nations match $1.30 New Zealand $3.50 Great Britain
Tri-Nations winner $1.18 Australia $5.50 New Zealand $12.00 Great Britain
