Media Statement Issued By Coach To
Joanna Lawn, Chris Pilone
"Despite difficulties on race day, Joanna put in a strong performance at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, finishing in seventh place with a time of 9:32:48.
"Unfortunately due to a stomach upset, Joanna was unable to hold down any food on race day, so to finish in the top ten was a great achievement in that regard.
"Looking forward to next year's Ironman World Championships, I will be advising Joanna to focus more on acclimatisation to the local conditions which are typically hot and humid.
"This year, Joanna spent just three weeks acclimatising at Kona after coming from a much cooler climate in Boulder, Colorado."

MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY COACH TO
CAMERON BROWN, BRENDON CAMERON
"Cameron finished in eighth position at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. He completed the 3.8km swim, 108km cycle and 42km run with a good time of 8:25:22.
"Cameron said he was riding well in the cycle leg and was just six minutes behind the leader at the Hawi turn – about halfway through the cycle.
"Unfortunately Cameron was then handed the wrong special needs bag, which athletes fill with their own nutritional needs before the race. Despite having to then ride the next ten kilometres with no drink, he finished the cycle leg a few minutes faster than last year and made the transition to the run leg in third position.
"But with inadequate sustenance Cameron fell behind during the run leg and ran the final ten kilometres at a slow jog. He did well to achieve a top ten finish."
