You could have excused for mistakenly thinking you had stumbled into a Middle Eastern boudoir when Dubai based designer Lee Harrison showed his ‘Arabesque’ collection last night. With long silk curtains hung from the ceiling, the mood was set with Turkish rugs and overstuffed cushions strewn down the catwalk.
All of the beautifully hand beaded garments were designed and finished in Dubai, and it’s the beading that drove this designer. From kaftans worn with relaxed, flowing pants through to tailored suiting made of Moroccan blankets in vibrant hues of orange, gold and red or blues, this was a collection for Middle Eastern Princesses.
The Princes weren’t left out either – long flowing robes over Nehru collared silk jackets were strongly reminiscent of Omar Sharif in Lawrence Of Arabia.
The show finished with an absolutely stunning collection of beaded wedding gowns that would make any little girl’s princess bride dream come true.
