Hit Aussie Music Show Rocks Sundays on Triangle Television Wellington
Dig out those shoulder pads, tease out that big hair and slide into your lycra – Chartbusting 80s has arrived on New
Zealand television. Triangle Television Wellington is broadcasting the hit show every Sunday evening at 9pm.
Hosted by producer Josie Parrelli and Jeff Jenkins and recorded with a live studio audience, Chartbusting 80s has built
up a large, devoted audience since it first screened on Channel 31 Melbourne, Australia six years ago. The show is now
broadcast in Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Mt Gambier with average audiences of more than 100,000 for its weekly
episodes.
Featuring music clips from various artists from the 1980s, plus interviews with New Zealand, Australian and
international stars of yesteryear, Chartbusting 80s also includes live studio performances from Melbourne bands
performing one to two 1980s tracks of their choice.
Forgotten your 1980s music headliners? Here's a selection of some who have featured on the show: Brian Canham (Pseudo
Echo), Ross Wilson (Mondo Rock) Brian Mannix (Uncanny X-Men), Boney M, Gene Simmons (KISS), Martha Davis (The Motels),
Weird Al Yankovic, Cyndi Lauper and Jim Kerr (Simple Minds).
The show gives such popular 1980s artists a chance to discuss their music and their careers, as well as revealing what
they're up to now.
Even host Josie Parrelli's wardrobe is a blast from the past – and there are plenty of 80s-inspired games, music trivia
and audience competitions. There's lots of audience participation, and Josie spars on-air with co-host, music journalist
Jeff Jenkins, who is 'the facts and figures' man, letting viewers know what's happened to their favourite '80s acts.
The show is produced by Josie Parrelli's production company Lady Scorpio
Productions which has also spawned its own Chartbusting 80s DVDs. The first volume made it to number 15 on the Australia
ARIA charts.
