Dean To Mentor Southland Tour Team
Julian Dean; New Zealand's premier professional cyclist, has confirmed that he will be forming a development team to
compete in the New Zealand season. Dean will 'mentor' the team and he holds hopes that it will "develop over time into a
squad that can compete both in New Zealand and internationally."
Says Dean "I want to find and introduce the most talented young cyclists in New Zealand to the European way of racing."
He adds "the experience of racing for a focused team, in a professional manner will be replicated in the smallest
detail."
Dean is due to arrive back in New Zealand for the summer, "the management team have been assessing potential riders over
the last twelve months both at home and abroad, and we will be in a position to name the team in late August once the
team riders have been finalised."
Speaking from his training base in Spain, Julian is excited about this new development "I'm absolutely positive that
this team will be operating at a professional level from the beginning, and what excites me most is I know what a
professional team can do for New Zealand cycling on the world stage in the future."
