Maori Television Coverage of Maori Queen’s Tangi
When thousands of mourners converge on Turangawaewae Marae this week to farewell the late Te Arikinui Dame Te Ata I Rangikaahu, Maori Television will be there to film and broadcast each day’s events.
Starting at 5.30 PM each day, special programme LIVE FROM TURANGAWAEWAE will screen from Turangawaewae Marae. Hosted by Julian Wilcox and Wena Harawira in both Maori and English, it will feature coverage of the events of the day. This will be repeated in the evenings at 11.30 PM with subtitles.
From tonight, the tangi of Te Arikinui will be covered in depth by the channel’s daily news programme TE KAEA (7.30 pm). There will also be a special feature paying tribute to her life and works on Maori Television’s current affairs show TE HETERI (tonight at 8.00 PM).
There will be special programmes dedicated to her life and works this Sunday August 20 between 4.00 PM and 7.30 PM, including an extended version of LIVE FROM TURANGAWAEWAE.
