Talented Trios in Live Finale
The competition has been fierce but there’s only one more battle left in Māori Television’s talent show for trios, TORU (Sunday August 6 at 8.00 PM).
Over the past three months, three teams of three have competed before three judges to go through to the live final at Māori Television’s Auckland studios this Sunday.
During the series, 27 teams from around Aotearoa had to croon, warble, chorus or rap their hearts out before the show’s hosts, the T-Sistaz – Te Waipounamu, Te Manawaroa and Tiare Teinakore - plus a celebrity guest judge.
The grand final winner will receive an amazing prize package worth $10,000 - $5,000 from NZ On Air to produce a single and $5,000 from Māori Television to make a music video.
The line-ups for the finals are:
Deadly Alliance from Rotorua
A well-known group who perform original songs using the unusual combination of violin, keyboards and guitar.
Encore from Rotorua
All graduates of Tawere (TWOA) in Rotorua, they write and perform their own songs, many with a Māori twist.
Smokey Feel from Wellington
A trio of budding actors, they compose their own songs, all play instruments and excel at high energy performances.
Tune in to the live action from Māori studios as the final three groups vie for glory and music stardom on TORU Sunday August 6 at 8.00 PM.
