Exhibitions:
‘The Living Art of Pacific Tattoo’ - Mangere Arts Centre, Bader Drive, Mangere Town Centre
This exhibition previewed at the Tattoonesia Tattoo convention in 2005 in Moorea, Tahiti, followed by showings in Milan and Auckland City. Now Manukau residents get a chance to see this outstanding exhibition which focuses on the art of ta moki, tatau, tatu and tattoo within communities living in New Zealand and the Pacific.
Artists featured in this exhibition are: Mark Adams, Tricia Allen, Greg Semu, Serena Stevenson, Riki Manuel, Areta Wilkinson, Jason Hall, Marsha Angou, James Pinker, Makarita Urale, Steven Ball, Makiko Kuwahara, Miki Magasiva, Lisa Taouma and Mark Mclean.

- Tattoo artists will be demonstrating their craft on site throughout the exhibition
- Manukau residents with tattoos are invited to come and meet curator Steven Ball and have their tattoos photographed by him

(Re)Locating Home exhibition - Fresh Gallery, Otara, Shop 5, 46 Fairmall, Otara Town Centre
Fresh from its triumphant showing in Suva, Fiji this exhibition by 6 emerging Manukau Pacific artists provides an insight into the lives and movement of the many Pacific people who have made their homes in different countries, including New Zealand and, more specifically, Manukau City.

Each year, senior students and teachers from Manurewa High School’s Art Department curate an eclectic mix of art works for public display. Innovative and surprising!

Performing Arts:
2006 Manukau Secondary Schools Performing Art Awards – the heat is on!
Heats are being held on 4, 11, 18 and 25 August at Otara Music and Arts Centre, Otara Town Centre (next to Otara Library). Finals and Awards Night takes place 1st September at the Genesis Theatre, TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau.
These awards which are open to secondary school students in the Auckland Region, promote classical and contemporary music as well as dance.
