Amplifier Newsletter #227 - 12 July 2006
Kia ora , It’s been a very busy week at Amplifier House. Firstly we’ve been getting many e-mails (well at least 4) asking what’s happened to the weekly competition. Okay, there just hasn’t been anything worth giving away for a while, but now, thanks to our friends at Xtra Electronics, we’ve got a brand spanking new Xbox 360 that you can win.
We’ve also just signed up Intergalactic Records and Tardus for downloads so you can purchase MP3 downloads (which will happily run on your iPod) from bands such as Minuit, Cassette, Paradigm, 8 Foot Sativa and Chuganaut. Also there are new download additions for Don McGlashan, dDub and The Haints of Dean Hall as well as new videos from Spacifix, Shapeshifter and OdESSA. Listen, watch, learn and buy - Amplifer.co.nz.

The Haints Of Dean Hall - The Haints Of Dean Hall
A 'haint' is a southern term for a ghostly steam rising off the road, often mistaken to be a ghost. 'The Haints Of Dean Hall' is a fragile, rural and low volume contemplative sound where Julie Cruise meets the Carter Family, a new release for Arch Hill. Stephen Reay [ex-Subliminals] & Kathryn McCool self-titled debut album was recorded during a brief visit made from McCool's hometown, near Melbourne, to Auckland, in the summer of '05.

OdESSA - Promises, Promises
Video & Download OdESSA - Promises, Promises
Wound myself up into a ball I can't untangle, I built myself an armoured suit I can’t dismantle. Looked into your eyes and seen a dozen Ex-girlfriends looking back at me. I made myself sick off my own medicine, sure of nothing except my indecision. Looked into your eyes and seen a dozen ex-girlfriends back there saying So Long Baby…… Promises, Promises.
Promises, Promises is the new video from OdESSA and we now also have their album Oak Park Avenue available as an MP3 download.
