Canterbury Rugby signs with AMI Insurance
Canterbury Rugby has joined forces with AMI Insurance, with the leading insurance company becoming its new principal
sponsor.
Canterbury RFU Chief Executive Hamish Riach said he was delighted to announce the new partnership with a highly
successful national brand with strong Canterbury links and a community ethos. AMI is headquartered in Christchurch and
has fourteen branches in the Canterbury region.
“We’re both proud organisations based here in Christchurch who have a common synergy through our links with the local
community.”
Riach termed the new relationship a “solid partnership.”
“AMI is a long-standing organisation with a strong heritage and an excellent record of performance.”
AMI’s principal sponsorship of Canterbury Rugby is for two years with the right of renewal.
AMI Chief Executive John Balmforth said that the new sponsorship would contribute to the ongoing success and development
of both organisations and the Canterbury region.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to sponsor the Canterbury RFU. Canterbury Rugby epitomises a community spirit
that AMI is delighted to be associated with,” says Mr Balmforth.
He added that sponsoring Canterbury Rugby allowed AMI to give something back to the local community. AMI already
sponsors the Canterbury Rugby Referees’ Association, the Christchurch Symphony and other local arts and community
organisations.
“AMI has always been passionate about supporting communities and ensuring our customers are cared for locally which is
evident with our extensive branch network,” says Mr Balmforth.
The new sponsorship begins tomorrow with Canterbury’s Ranfurly Shield defence against Wairarapa Bush at Jade Stadium at
3.15pm.
