The Auckland and North Harbour badminton associations will be competing for a new trophy which honours one of the greats of the sport.
The inaugural "battle of the bridge" match between the two badminton strongholds is hoped to be the first of an annual challenge played for a trophy which has been donated by one of the legendary figures of the sport Richard Pursor.
Pursor won over 30 New Zealand titles during the 60's, 70's and into the 80's, not including the large number of masters titles he has been victorious in as well.
