Mark Scott in DECONSTRUCTING ME
COMEDIAN PULLS HIMSELF APART ON STAGE
A Boxing champion, a registered property valuer and an internationally rueling stand up comedian walks into a bar. He orders two pints of tequila and one of beer. The barman says “Hey Mark, you look a bit frazzled!”
“Yeah” says Mark “I’ve just finished writing a show where I separate my personalities to find out where my sense of humour came from. So I’m treating these three to a night out.”
The barman pushes the drinks over. The valuer says “It’s after 5 o’clock so I‘ll have the beer. The boxer doesn’t drink because he’s our driving.”
“So how come the TWO pints of tequila?”
“They’re for the comedian. He’s got to go on after Billy Connelly.”
Mark Scott’s “Deconstructing Me” is a side-splitting blend of stand up comedy and solo performance. Cleverly delving into the nethermost regions of this accomplished comedian’s mind, it rakes out the defining experiences that shaped his sometimes twisted points of view. Can the thread of a life story be communicated through a string of gags and anecdotes? Come see “Deconstructing Me” and find out!
Mark Scott is an internationally televised stand up comedian, actor and improviser. He has toured comedy in Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand. His 2000 international tour with fellow comedian Mike Loder included seventeen full festival seasons (not including other shows and club gigs) and may well remain a festival record for NZ comedians. Last year his show “The Kiwi Comedy Spectacular” headlined Canada’s Halifax Fringe Festival Media Showcase and he was selected this year to perform in Montreal, home of the prestigious “Just for Laughs” festival.
In 2001 Mark worked with fellow “Improv Bandit” Wade Jackson to help establish “Covert Theatre”, NZ’s first full time theatre for improvisation. His solo festival show “1Nite Stand” played to full houses there that year. In addition to theatre, television and feature film work, he has since featured in stand up (i.e. Pulp Comedy, Big Howick Giggle) and improv shows (“Instant Broadway” and “A Bard’s Tale”: Herald Theatre, “The Improv Bandits”: 2004 televised Comedy Festival Gala).
But it’s now time to once again stand alone! This year Mark blasts on stage and premieres“Deconstructing Me”, his newest solo show slated for international touring.
