Auckland Stars Score Healthy Points With Sponsor
Auckland, 26 May 2006. Auckland Stars basketball team has secured naming rights sponsorship from kiwi founded, Australian based company GI Juice.
GI Juice director, Stuart Legg says that the soon-to-be-launched in New Zealand, product is a perfect fit with the Auckland Stars who are strong advocates for promoting healthier lifestyles particularly among their younger supporters. “The growing issue of child obesity is key in promoting a change to some young people’s lifestyles and encouraging increased recreation and healthier eating,” says Legg.
With a low glycemic index and 99% pure fruit juice, the GI Juice product range includes juices and milk drinks that aim to appeal to schools and people seeking a healthier and less weighty alternative to current soft drinks and juices. The move to reducing the consumption of foods that are high in refined fats and sugars is being supported by government, education and private sector initiatives with particular attention being levelled at young New Zealanders.
The Auckland Stars currently work with schools in their ‘learn for life’ programme that addresses such issues as drugs and alcohol, tagging, and imparts basketball skills to youngsters in an effort to develop healthy interests.
As soon as GI Juice finalises negotiations for New Zealand distribution it is expected that, GI Juice will be available in schools, retail and commercial outlets and at Auckland Stars games. GI Juice has been received with great enthusiasm by investors and consumers in Australia who are grappling with the same health and growing obesity issues as New Zealand and are keen to ensure the ongoing healthy and well-being of their younger generations.
