New Zealand Wine and Sculpture showcased in London
Cable Bay wines were presented at an exclusive function in London last night to celebrate the 100% Pure New Zealand Garden Silver Gilt award at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Cable Bay, a company developed by a small group of wine lovers who are passionate about New Zealand and its wines, produces a range of high quality wines from grapes grown on Waiheke Island and in Marlborough.
John Gow, a director of Cable Bay Vineyards, joined invited guests to celebrate the award winning garden which featured leading New Zealand sculptor Virginia King’s stunning new three piece stainless steel limpet, leaf and fern sculpture.
“It was a proud day for New Zealand” said John and Jo Gow, owners of the Connells Bay Sculpture Park on Waiheke Island. “Bringing together tourism, wine and art are a wonderful combination about what New Zealand offers best.”
The Chelsea Flower Show is attended by over 160,000 people.
The Tourism New Zealand garden was designed by designer Xanthe White and is inspired by the west coast of Auckland.
Virginia King’s works celebrate life in the South Pacific and her works are inspired by the ocean, the geographic isolation of New Zealand and informed by mythology, history and literature.
The sculpture will ultimately be installed at the Connells Bay Sculpture Park on Waiheke Island sometime after its return to New Zealand where editions of this work will be offered for sale.
