MOVE THE CROWD and BRECKIN WRECKWORDS in association with WOODCUT PRODUCTIONS proudly present the GLOBAL CASINO / WASTED YOUTH TOUR in June 2006.
Featuring a fierce line-up of New Zealand’s finest up-and-coming & existing DJs & MCs, including JUSE, LOUIE KNUXX, SMASHPROOF, FEELSTYLE, TYREE, CYPHANETIK, ETHICAL and DJ D-FORM, this tour of talented artists is travelling the length and breadth of Aotearoa spreading the hip-hop gospel. The next generation are coming through.
JUSE is New Zealand’s best-kept secret. Over the past eight years this international producer and beatmaker has provided the muscle for many of New Zealand’s top MCs and vocalists. Artists including Savage, Mareko, Shayne Carter, Tha Feelstyle and South Auckland’s newly internationally signed crew SMASHPROOF have rhymed over JUSE instrumentals.
After years of bubbling under with compilation contributions, his acclaimed debut album GLOBAL CASINO was released in April 2006, including a 4 star review in Rip It Up and 31/2 from Sirvere at Back 2 Basics Magazine.
LOUIE KNUXX, MC from the independent Breckin Wreckwords label, released his debut album WASTED YOUTH to critical acclaim (10/10 Vice Magazine amongst others) late February and features the single ‘Fly’ and new video “What I Do”.
Deach, Young Sid & Tyree are SMASHPROOF, the new hip-hop crew from South Auckland. Featuring heavily on GLOBAL CASINO & Move The Crowd’s – Speed Of Sound Mixtape, SMASHPROOF’s debut album is due in 2007 and already features contributions from Akon, Nina Sky & Move The Crowd’s latest local signing ETHICAL. Tyree has been signed internationally to Universal Australia.
2006 will be a big year for TYREE. This MC has recently returned from an 8 week Australian tour with DJ Nino Brown and currently shooting a video in Toronto with his SMASHPROOF boys and Kardinal Offishall. Tyree is set to release his debut album later this year in both NZ and Australia. His album has been mixed in New York and mastered at the world famous Sterling Sound.
At the helm of NZ underground hip-hop sits the invariably gifted Jared Abbott aka CYPHANETIK. A leading member of the ‘Insomniac’s’ and ‘Oddballs’, CYPHANETIK is an incredibly talented solo artist. With the first single and video ‘Blaze ’em’ (directed by Andy Morton) soon to be released, it won’t be long before the snowball gains momentum.
ETHICAL is the latest signing to Move The Crowd Records. Otherwise known as Ash Hughes, MC ETHICAL is also a member of ‘Oddballs’ and chose his name to reflect the beliefs and values he holds dearly.
Host of the legendary truskool Hiphop Show on 95bFM, Scribes Tour DJ and the man on the forefront of the club circuit behind the decks, few would disagree that D-FORM is one of the country’s best.
All these names are already creating a big buzz in hip-hop circles and you will be hearing a great deal more of. For a tour showcasing New Zealand’s finest, existing and up-and-coming DJs & MCs, the GLOBAL CASINO / WASTED YOUTH TOUR is one not to be missed.
