2006
Monday 22nd May
World First at Queenstown Winter Festival
Skidealsnz.com and Pacific Blue Airlines are key sponsors in Queenstown’s annual Winter Festival and are topping the
bill for 2006 with the World Cabin Crew Alpine Challenge and Mile High Club.
A challenge designed to attract airlines from around the world, the event will be complete with international
celebrities and prizes of international travel and ski packages to be won.
Billed as “The Amazing Race” meets “Survivor”, this event will see teams from airlines around the globe compete for the
honour of becoming the inaugural World Cabin Crew Alpine champs.
Jo Wedlock, New Zealand Manager of event sponsors Pacific Blue Airlines said “we see this as the inaugural challenge to
bring together airlines from all over New Zealand, and hopefully further afield. It’s the ultimate test to prove who’s
got the best crew – in typical Pacific Blue style”. Each team will have to complete several fantastically outrageous
‘cabin crew’ challenges, and will be judged on their creativity and speed by a team of celebrities and airline staff.
The event culminates in entry to the ‘mile high club’ up Coronet peak. Complete with a spa pool in the snow, bathing
beauties in bikinis and all the Branson-esqe accessories expected, admission will be gained by all who complete the
challenges, where competitors can enjoy the hospitality and recharge with a soak in the spa or a massage.
The event will commence in Earnslaw Park, Queenstown, at 11am on Monday 26th June, and will conclude at Coronet Peak ski
area.
The World Cabin Crew Alpine Challenge is also open to the public and is free to enter, but numbers are limited (register
online at www.winterfestival.co.nz/information). A five-day luxury accommodation package for two people, in the South
Island ski areas of Canterbury or Queenstown, with ski passes, is up for grabs, courtesy of www.skidealsnz.com, where
packages to Queenstown Winter Festival can also be booked online.
