2007 ARTIST/CURATOR RESIDENCY PROGRAMME
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
APPLICATIONS DUE: FRIDAY 30 JUNE 2006
The Physics Room is calling for applications for the 2007 Artist/Curator Residency Programme. The Physics Room is
Christchurch's key contemporary art organisation. We are committed to the ongoing development of contemporary art in
Aotearoa/New Zealand through a range of exhibitions, programmes and publications. The Artist/Curator Residency Programme
will be a key addition to our programme, and will build on The Physics Room's already strong networks and associations
with artists, curators, writers and other arts professionals in New Zealand and abroad. It will provide an opportunity
for artists and curators to spend six to eight weeks in Christchurch developing new work or working towards an
exhibition. The programme aims to assist in the continuing development of a sustainable visual arts culture in New
Zealand.
RESIDENCY INCULDES
* Weekly stipend
* Material costs supplement (if required)
* Accommodation
* Assistance towards relocation to Christchurch (within NZ)
CRITERIA
Artists or curators will be selected by the committee on the basis of the quality and innovation of their practice.
Potential benefits to the applicant, the organisation, and to the broader art community will also be considered. The
applicant must be a New Zealand resident.
ELIGIBILITLY
Contemporary visual artists or curators from New Zealand pursuing an innovative practice in a professional capacity are
eligible to apply.
