IDEAL CITY - INVISIBLE CITIES: 40 international artists and the IDEAL CITY
The „Ideal City“ is the main focus of the project IDEAL CITY - INVISIBLE CITES, that will take place in ZAMOSC, Poland,
from June 18th to August 22th,2006 and in POTSDAM, Germany, from September 9 to October 29, 2006. OPENING NIGHTS will be
held in ZAMOSC, June 17th and in POTSDAM, September 8, 2006.
In the past, „Ideal cities“ were rarely built or constructed, but remained more often „unvisible cities“. 40
international artists from 12 European and 6 non-European countries are dealing with the IDEAL CITY - as well as the
INVISIBLE CITIES. Their work is presented either in public spaces or in museums and art spaces of two cities, that have
been conceived, built, constructed and are still IDEAL CITIES. One is the Renaissance city of Zamosc, that since it has
been built by Renaissance Italian Architect Bernardo Morando by appointment of the Polish Prince of Zamosc, has never
been destroyed nor conquered. The other is the baroque city of Potsdam, near Berlin. The projects are curated by Sabrina
van der Ley and Markus Richter, European Art Projects, Berlin.
