Two Wellington musicians have found themselves up against the might of the BBC.
Lisa Nimmo and Shelley Hirini from PEARL are about to complete their debut album 'No Ordinary Day', due for release July 10.
"We needed approval from the BBC to use some news audio clippings in one of the singles on the album 'Life is Beautiful'. The BBC refused to grant approval, citing that the use of the clips in our song would be 'too political' "This was very disappointing for us. The song is about noticing, appreciating and respecting the beauty in our world. The clips helped to communicate that message in a powerful way - which surely is a positive thing," says Lisa.
"We have had to delay the release of the album while we source material from elsewhere."
