NZ Music Live at Bodega from 4pm - Free Entry
Recloose, Minuit, Ryan Prebble, Hot Swiss Mistress - Live at Bodega from 4pm - Free Entry
This morning while driving to work and listening to Liam on Radio Active I heard about this weekends huge NZ Music Month show at Bodega and was prompted to send out this weeks newsletter. It's a family friendly affair and you are welcome to pop along from 4pm..................
National Radio and Bar Bodega present The Transmission - Saturday 6 May - 4pm - Free
Recloose, Minuit, Ryan Prebble, Grayson Gilmore, Hot Swiss Mistress, Alphabet Head, Bunnies on Ponies and DJ Lotion
Music 101 with Sarah McMullan (2pm - 5pm every Saturday on National Radio 101fm)
is broadcasting live from Bodega this Saturday with interviews, an acoustic session with Ryan
Prebble, a panel discussion chaired by Trevor Reekie and DJ Alphabethead performing a very
special Kiwiana mash-up of records from the RNZ Vaults. The mainstage extravaganza opens to
the public at 4pm with the Recloose Live Band performing live to air until 5pm.
Recorded live sessions from Bodega will be played throughout May during the regular music magazine show - Music 101 which is packed full of music news, views, and interviews as well as the freshest new music from Aotearoa and the World.
Office Shout – Publicans Dozen & Platter
Send an email to bar@bodega.co.nz ………….. to go in to the draw for the publicans dozen and a platter - Good Luck! Last weeks winners came from NZEI. Simply type Office Shout in the subject line.
Wellingtons only hand drawn ales
Limburg Hopsmacker, Tuatara IPA and Tuatara Porter are available now.
Grand Prix, Punches, Over the Atlantic - Friday 19 May
A love of country music, racing cars and the trumpet makes for an unlikely, yet riveting, combination for Grand Prix. Put it this way - if you love the Ennio Morricone soundtrack of the classic Western, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966), doing donuts, and racing cars, then this is for you. Although, the band admit car racing is a metaphor for life, rather than their being petrol heads.
High Dependency Unit – Saturday 20 May
HDU release their latest single Tunguska with support from Mestar. The song "Tunguska" will be familiar to fans who've witnessed any of the bands increasingly rare live performances over the last couple of years. A seven minute sprawling epic that burns slowly but brightly.
ODDFELLOWS New Zealand International Comedy Festival
The Festival Booklets are out now. The festival shows at Bodega begin on Wednesday May 17. Book now at Ticketek or Bodega 384 8212.
Bodega Beer Imbibement Association (BBIA) - Underground Bodega - Monthly
Last weeks menu descriptors went along the lines of Eurolager, Kreik and something a little strong! Each month the BBIA meet in the Bodega basement with a fine assortment of beers from regions of the world. Last weeks menu included: Boon Kreik - Limburg Czeckmate, Matilda Bay Bohemia, Hoffbrau Oktoberfest - Orval, Monteith's Triple, Emmersons Taieri Gorge & Renaissance Stonecutter.
Connan and the Mockasins – Friday 26 May - UK Fundraising Gig
As the band kicks off there is hardly standing room and people are up on tables and windowsills, affording them a view of the band, who are being swamped by the crowd. It feels like a private party rather than a public gig, and as the girls up front sing along, you get the impression they are part of a staunch group of Connan junkies.
Why the devotion, the fidelity, and the adoration? It's the music!
Catch you soon,
Fraser, Tane, Jan, Cam, Sally, Gary, Dave, Ned, Steph, Rennie, Nick, Dani, Ants, Leifur and Polly
