Photographers participating in the research and therefore subjects of my exhibition include: Rachael Hale and author of
101 Salivations: For the Love of Dogs and 101 Cataclysms: For the Love of Cats; Jono Rotman, commercial and Fine Art
photographer best known for his Chambers series; Wayne Barrar, internationally renowned Fine Arts photographer and
Massey University’s Head of Department for photography; and award winning commercial photographers Ian Robertson and
Esther Bunning.
The photographic images are juxtaposed with extracts from interviews conducted while undertaking research towards my
Masters thesis.

The research method employed uses photography as a research tool. The photographic images act as visual research
enabling the viewer to make connection, and therefore conclusions, about the way in which these photographers work.
As a creative individual myself I have always been interested in the creative processes of others. Receiving the
Wellington City Council Award for Creativity and Innovation last year has provided me with an opportunity to present my
research in the form of an exhibition so others can share in this interest.
Photographic Practice: An Exploration into the Working Methods of Five New Zealand Photographers runs until Saturday the
20th of May at The Wellington Arts Centre Gallery, 61 - 69 Abel Smith Street. Open Monday – Friday 9am – 7pm and
Saturday 10am – 4pm.
