The Gig To Launch 500 Gigs…
Yesterday The Bleeders, Deja Voodoo and Cherry’s Gemstones launched NZ Music Month 2006 at the Wellington Town Hall. The
guys (and ladies) did a first-class job of kicking off the festivities and the kids did a first-class job of supporting
NZ Music Month with many in the crowd already having rushed out to purchase a NZ Music Month tee from Hallensteins.
Today is the 1st of May 2006. Day 1 of NZ Music Month.
This morning Luke Buda started off this May’s activities with a live performance on TV1s Good Morning. Meanwhile record
stores were opening and filling their shelves with Freshmen - Nesian Mystik’s much anticipated sophomore album - one
more reason to visit your local record shop and support kiwi music.
As well as great new music hitting the stores there are oodles of gigs happening up and down the country. There is bound
to be something to please even the fussiest ears - this week alone there are over 150 gigs happening up and down the

Today Christchurch band Falter played at Southland Boys High School, kicking off their 110 date national tour. Falter
won the Rockquest in 2003 and after honing their skills over the last couple of years they are hitting the road. The
tour starts off in Invercargill with the lads travelling up the islands over the coming weeks and finishing up on the
16th of September in Auckland. Each high school will host a lunchtime concert followed by a 2 hour music clinic. And for
those of you of the older variety there will be shows to public (both R18 and All Ages) each weekend.
