Young North Island Kiwis Hungry For Nescafé Big Break!
With only one week to go it seems young North Islanders are more determined than their South Island counterparts to take
away the NESCAFÉ Big Break grand award of AUD$100,000.
Nearly three times more North Islanders have entered the competition which could see them score cash awards to help make
their dreams a reality. NESCAFÉ Big Break is calling on young Kiwis who haven’t yet entered to submit their big idea to
prove they’re hungry for success.
With a total prize pool of more than AUD$200,000 to be awarded, NESCAFÉ Big Break will see 16-24 year olds from New
Zealand and across the ditch in Australia competing for cash awards starting from AUD$4,000.
In 2005 four talented Kiwis with wildly diverse dreams prevailed over 400 other New Zealanders to become finalists in
NESCAFÉ Big Break – all of them from the North Island.
Ben Griffin’s (Ohakune) dream is to win a gold medal in alpine skiing at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics while West
Auckland’s Corban Walls recently launched his portable skate park business at Parachute Music Festival. Both took away
NESCAFÉ Big Break awards of AUD$5,000.
Rochelle Bright from Auckland won AUD$25,000 to put towards her dream of studying graduate musical theatre writing at
New York’s Tisch School of Arts. Fellow Aucklander Renée-Louise-Carafice also took home AUD$25,000 and is using the
money to produce an album with her band Operation, set up to help improve people’s understanding of mental health
through music.
Since launching in New Zealand in 2000, NESCAFÉ Big Break has awarded in excess of AUD$250,000 to more than 20 young
Kiwis in diverse areas such as technology, sport, fashion and agriculture.
Anyone aged 16-24 with a big idea in need of a cash injection to get it off the ground is eligible for entry.
Entries close Friday, May 5 2006 and must be completed and submitted online at www.nescafebigbreak.co.nz
