BASS FRONTIERS PROUDLY PRESENTS
BINGO BEATS NZ SESSION 2006
DJ ZINC (BINGO / TRUE PLAYAZ – UK) + MC VERSE (CRUNCH – UK)
FRI 21ST APRIL – SANDWICHES – WGTN
Yes New Zealand it is time once again to welcome back the original True Player, Bingo Beats boss and one of the top dnb DJ’s in the World, DJ Zinc! Expect nothing short of an evening of jaw dropping turntable antics and the hottest and freshest dubplates.
Zinc has been at the forefront of the drum and bass movement since the early 90’s. It was alongside DJ Hype and Pascal as part of the True Playaz collective Zinc really made his mark in the mid-90's. Tracks such as ‘Super Sharp Shooter’ and ‘Six Million Ways to Die’ meant Zinc and anything bearing the True Playaz logo was in hot demand. From there he was a regular at all the big nights in London, holding residencies at top clubs The End, Fabric and Ministry of Sound. A position he still maintains today as one of the most popular dj’s in London and around the world.
His debut artist album ‘Faster’ released in 2003 showed a more wide screen vision of Zinc’s musical direction. It moved from downbeat to upbeat with ease, experimenting with many different tempos and not just the usual jump up dance floor destroyers he is renowned for. In the time since then Zinc has moved away from his True Playaz roots and focused on establishing Bingo Beats as one of the top labels to watch. 2006 has seen Bingo step it up a notch with the release of its first artist LP, the sublime sounds of Jenna G with her ‘For Lost Friends’ project. The album has already delivered a couple of timeless club anthems. Following this is another release in the hugely popular ‘Bingo Sessions’ mix CD series that has featured Dj Marky, Dj Zinc and Dj Friction. This time put together by fast rising star’s Chase and Status, who have had big hits on Bingo with ‘Loves Theme’ and ‘The Druids EP’.
One things for certain Zinc has never rested on his laurels and you can be assured drum and bass’ most valuable player will deliver yet another blinding performance for the NZ crew.
Zinc will be joined by MC Verse whose smooth lyrical flow will raise the vibe and add another element to Zinc’s performance. Recently down under for the Phat 06 NYE celebrations where he smashed it with Pendulum. Verse has also been making waves with his Crunch label, featuring collaborations with Dkay, D Bridge, Bad Company, Keaton and SP MC. Look out for his killer collab ‘Choke’ with Noisia and Mayhem due out soon on Vision Recordings.
