Kathryn Ryan to Front Nine to Noon on National Radio
Radio New Zealand Political Editor, Kathryn Ryan, will replace Linda Clark as presenter of the high profile Nine To Noon current affairs programme on National Radio.
Making the announcement today, Radio New Zealand Chief Executive, Peter Cavanagh, said he was delighted to be able to appoint such an accomplished and respected broadcaster to one of National Radio’s flagship programmes.
Peter Cavanagh emphasised the importance of the appointment for National Radio listeners.
"Kathryn has been one of the rising stars of Radio New Zealand for some time now and it's wonderful to see her graduating into one of the most important roles in New Zealand broadcasting."
He said while Kathryn had done an outstanding job as Political Editor, she had many more strings to her bow and Nine to Noon would continue to explore a very broad range of interests.
“Our listeners have come to expect political analysis that is thought provoking, original and authoritative during Kathryn’s time as Political Editor and these qualities will be expanded in her wider role as presenter of National Radio’s flagship current affairs programme. Kathryn is a thoroughly professional broadcaster and will put her own personal stamp on the programme. “
Kathryn Ryan said she sees her new role as an exciting new challenge.

Kathryn Ryan has been Radio New Zealand Political Editor since February 2003. She has a background in print and radio journalism and has a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism from Canterbury University. She received a Chevening David Low Fellowship to the Reuter Foundation Programme at Green College, Oxford, in 1998 and has been a member of the Radio New Zealand Parliamentary Press Gallery for the past six years covering the 1999, 2002, and 2005 General Elections.
Kathryn Ryan is expected to take up the position in May once details are finalised.
