NZ Diversity on Screen
A timely new television series that explores and celebrates the spiritual diversity of New Zealanders has received funding from NZ On Air.
My God, a series of ten half hour programmes to screen on TV One, will focus on one well-known New Zealander each week, following them through their day-to-day life and capturing the essence of their spiritual being.
Acting Chief Executive, Bernard Duncan, said, "With more than 90 religious groups in New Zealand there will be no shortage of possibilities."
“At a time when religious differences and conflict are routinely in the headlines it is opportune to delve into the range of spiritual choices and what they mean in people’s lives,” said Mr Duncan.
The series will be presented by Chris Nichol who has a background in religious studies and television production.
NZ On Air has also contributed funding to a second series of a half hour programmes made for New Zealand’s farming community.
Rural Delivery goes to air on TV One every Saturday morning at 7.30am with a repeat at midday. It has earned its place as must-see viewing for farmers as well as attracting a surprising amount of interest from the urban audience.
The programme is packed with agricultural news and information and has a fast paced, contemporary style that appeals to young and old farmers.
“NZ On Air is pleased to provide public funding for Rural Delivery. Given that farmers work in a multi-billion dollar industry, it is critical that its editorial integrity and journalistic independence is retained,” said Bernard Duncan.
The funding allows for 30 episodes to be produced by Showdown Productions Ltd. Directors, Tony Benny and Jerome Cvitanovich, have many years experience in rural journalism and production.
