Auditions will be held in the four main centres during April for the national chamber choir TOWER Voices New Zealand.
These auditions are open to singers over the age of 25, who will be available to commit to the choir’s programme for the
remainder of 2006. In addition to a core group of 24 – 32 singers, we will also be looking for singers who we can
contact if we have projects that require a larger number of singers, or if we need to replace a core member who may be
unavailable for a specific project.
Since its establishment in 1998 TOWER Voices New Zealand has developed a reputation as New Zealand’s leading chamber
choir, providing advanced training and performance opportunities for singers, and top quality presentation of a capella
repertoire to audiences both in this country and abroad. The choir also works alongside orchestras, as well as being
invited to undertake solo performances at major festivals both here and overseas. The choir is led by Artistic Director,
Dr Karen Grylls.
In 2005 the choir toured to Germany to participate in the 9th International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf.
This year they have taken part in the NZ International Arts Festival alongside the Hilliard Ensemble, and later in the
year will sing the Mozart Requiem with the NZSO, and perform in Christchurch.
The choir has recorded several CDs, the latest being a CD of NZ music due for release this month.
