Meatless Vegan Gonads Set To Tantalise
Hungry Carnivorous Festival Goers
Amongst the throngs of a hungry carnivorous crowd at the Wildfood Festival this weekend will stand seven vffering
mouthwatering meatless alternatives. The group aims to dispel the myth vegetarians and vegans are dull, boring and lack
sex appeal.
“Vegetarianism is often stymied and ridiculed by the belief that vegetarian food is limp, bland and boring and
vegetarians even lack a sense of humour. This weekend we are set to prove them wrong,” says Hans Kriek, campaign
director for SAFE, a pro-vegetarian national animal advocacy organisation.
“The Wildfood Festival is synonymous with people trying new exotic foods invariably derived from a multitude of animal
species. We will tempt people to try a tasty battered meatless ‘gonad’ instead. It looks and tastes like meat but
doesn’t requiring killing an animal and is much healthier on the human body,” says Mr Kriek.
Studies show a meat-based diet causes a higher body fat level and increases the likelihood of medical problems such as
prostate cancer, obesity, heart attacks, type 2 diabetes and impotence.
During their lifetime the average meat-eater will consume 5 cows, 20 pigs, 30 sheep, 760 chickens, 46 turkeys, 15 ducks,
7 rabbits and half a tonne of fish.
“Vegetarian and vegan food has all sorts of benefits including in the bedroom! Our cheeky food-lovers’ stall will tempt
the most hardened meat eater to try a bit of vegetarian sausage as a step towards a whole new exciting way of life.”
