Slices of technicolour explode into action. Pearls, twinsets, the wireless and tea and cucumber sandwiches all come to
the party. The dust is shaken off and the dancing shoes brought out of the closet as four femme fatales take the dance
floor. With space on their dance cards and flare in their skirts they bring the past into full colour.
Java (Sacha Copland, Rosanne Christie, Yasmine Ganley) bring you theatrics amidst a blast of athleticism, technical
prowess and explosive physicality. The company’s signature style comes to the fore in SNAPSHOTS 06 as each dancer
choreographs a new work.
Joining the company for the season is New Zealand School of Dance student Lauren Carr who is on the cusp of launching
her dance career. Also joining the company for SNAPSHOTS 06 is a mysterious man and his female counterpart, a sultry
singer stolen from another era.
After the success of SNAPSHOTS 05 Java bring you their second annual season of short new works. Java was established in
2003 and works on a full-time basis. Their programme for the year includes, public shows, schools tours, children’s
shows, double bills and much, much more!
