Street animation for the masses
Hitting the streets of Wellington this Fringe 06 is a new style of street theatre unique to New Zealand. A mixture of performance based on silent movies, clown technique, mime and conventional theatre with a simple focus, to make the audience laugh. It is a theatre communicated through gesture and physicality, through theatrical inventiveness, where the actors are physical storytellers. Think of Charlie Chaplin, Commedia dell’Arte, Buster Keaton, The Marx Brothers, Early 20th Century Vaudeville, Rowan Atkinson, Mel Brookes, etc.
Produced by 3 Shades, the purpose of Loonesco is to create original, accessible comic theatre for the public in the street. Starting at Cuba Mall at 1pm, there will be three different roaming works on the three consecutive Saturdays during fringe time. Watch out for herding sheep on the 11th, a chaotic dog show final on the 18th, and bumble bees pollinating flowers on the 25th.
3 Shades has gathered together an elite troupe of skilled performers from throughout New Zealand and Europe to bring the streets of Wellington alive during Fringe 06.
