International judges for Vodafone id Emerging Designer Awards
UK textile specialist Professor Norma Starszakowna, formerly Director of Research Development at University of the Arts London, has been confirmed as one of the international judges for the 2006 Vodafone id Emerging Designer Awards.
Professor Norma Starszakowna is an established textile researcher, holding fellowships with the Royal Society of Arts and the Chartered Society of Designers, whose work has featured widely in exhibitions in China, Japan, Europe and on the BBC.
The judging panel features an impressive range of creative and fashion professionals, also including Creative Director of Lino Magazine (Sydney) Rex Turnbull, Publisher of New Zealand based international fashion magazine and website Lucire, Jack Yan, design assistant Sara Aspinall of Nom*D, fashion designer Tanya Carlson of Carlson, and Stefano Sopelza, Project Supervisor of the Mittelmoda fashion festival (Italy).
It is a tough job for the judges to select the overall winner who will collect a $3000 first prize.
25 emerging designer finalists will be in the city of Dunedin for the 2006 Vodafone id Emerging Designer Awards, from New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
Jack Yan of Lucire magazine says he is looking forward to being a part of the judging panel, after taking part in the inaugural event in 2005.
The prize for second place is $1000, while third place takes away a luxury gift bag filled with Revlon and Redken products.
Media personality Carol Hirschfeld will be the host and presenter for the night, to be held at the Lion Foundation Arena in the Edgar Sports Stadium on Friday 10 March 2006 starting at 8pm.
Tickets for the Awards event are now on sale at Ticketek.
The Vodafone id Dunedin Emerging Designer Awards is part of the Vodafone id Dunedin Fashion Week, 7-11 March 2006.
