Fringe 06 kicks off Friday Feb 10 with an opening night party at the Paramount theatre. Now comes the confusing bit –
what to go and see?
Here is a breakdown of shows happening over the first week of organised chaos!
This week:
The irrepressible Nigel Patterson will delight with his piano sounds in I, Keyboard, at Happy bar on Tory St 13 – 15
Feb.
Kiteroa experiment with European jazz and Maori instrumentation at Massey University Concert Hall 17 & 18 Feb.
Music for an Elastic Jazz Band with Jasmine Lovell-Smith and the Night Dreamers at Happy, 16-17 Feb.
Bitchcraft Twilight Carnival create a fairground attraction in Aro Park 18 Feb.
Absolutely Positively Walking are kicking off 10 Feb – walking tours around Wellington.
Blue Movies on a Redvespa will be roaming the streets of Wellington 12, 18, 26 Feb and March 5.
Excess: The Suitcase Show – installation on the move through the inner streets of Wellington (every Tues and Sat)
Freakin’ In the Cemetery, now at the Sound Shell, Botanic Gardens – fashion show on the night of 18 Feb.
Hexstatic, courtesy of the British Council, do their amazing AV stuff at the Lagoon on the Waterfront, 16 Feb.
Loonesco will be animating the streets with their quirky moves 11, 18 and 25 Feb.
The Silent Reflections of Hone Mawhero, Open Book productions 10th devised piece kicks off at the City to Sea Bridge 15
– 18 Feb.
This is a Plum – these nutbars will entertain 18 Feb, 3am (Sunday morning) at Wellington Central Library Carpark.
32 Flavours, After Service, Te Tapa Toru, Theatre Militia’s Symposium, Wheel and Shadows of Care all kick off this week
at BATS, at various times.
Heavenly Burlesque, Lance a Boyles Audition and You Know What, I Really Don’t Like You are all making their mark this
week at Paramount Theatre.
Visual Arts – Game Show, It’s a Jungle in There, Love Birds and Rise of the Creative Economy also begin this week.

Fricnic and Chalk the Walk
Frank Kitts Park
Sat 18 Feb – 11am – 2.30pm
Fricnic returns with entertainment and fun for the whole family. Pacific Island cultural groups, Batucada (Brazilian
percussion group) and DJ Raw disciples will entertain throughout the day. Watch the stiltwalkers, get your face and body
painted, bring a picnic or enjoy the food and drink from the various stalls dotted around the park.
Tools will be supplied for Chalk the Walk –free license to create your very own masterpiece on the Wellington waterfront
promenade.
