Despatch follows Hannah, an ambitious Kiwi journalist obsessed with pursuing stories to the world’s most dangerous territories. Addicted to the high of the war zone, she is forced to face her own parasitic nature as hard experience fractures into a surreal nightmare.
Epic, disturbing and unnervingly funny, Despatch examines the relationship between intimacy and global culture, forcing us to confront our complicity in events that seem beyond our control.
Despatch reunites the Chapman Tripp Award winning collaborators who brought you the critically acclaimed, sold-out Fringe 2004 hit After Kafka. The piece is written by Angie Farrow (Edinburgh Fringe First and the Mobil Playwriting Award), directed by Ryan Hartigan and performed by the innovative, cutting-edge ensemble Theatre Pataphysical. It has been developed in conjunction with international companies from the UK and Poland, and with the support of Playmarket, BATS Theatre and the BATS Lab scheme.
Despatch combines graphic realism with lyrical choreography to create a visceral, haunting and frequently overwhelming piece of theatre.
