The Thirteenth Annual Fringe ‘Monster’ Awards
Forget about the Start of the Fringe Festival – how about the End?
Sunday March 5 is Fringe Monster Awards night at the Paramount Theatre, thirteen (lucky) award categories have just been
confirmed. A contingent of 22 judges in total will be out and about during the Fringe with the mammoth task of dividing
up the 83 shows between them.
The Awards night promises to be a rockin’ out time with plenty of music entertainment and will be a free event for
everyone to attend!
FRINGE 06 AWARD CATEGORIES – Thirteen Lucky Awards!
BEST DANCE
Best overall production from ‘Dance’ category.
BEST MUSIC
Best overall production from ‘Music’category.
BEST VISUAL ART
Best overall production from ‘Visual Arts’ category.
BEST OUTDOOR
Best overall production from ‘Outdoor’category.
BEST COMEDY
The Funniest event in the Fringe.
BEST THEATRE
Best overall production from Theatre category. Any Outdoor Theatre shows will also be eligible in this category
MARKETING AWARD
Has the best marketing design and execution – and incorporates the use of alternative media
ie. This show’s poster got into your brain two weeks before the season started, people haven’t stopped talking about it
since the posters went up, and they probably won’t stop talking about it till next Fringe!
BEST ‘ONE MAN BAND’/ SOLO SHOW
This award is for the best solo performance show. Theatre and Music categories
BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN
Has a stand out production design –incorporating sound, set and lighting designs.
There must be a ‘WOW’ factor to the production to make it eligible to be nominated.
MOST ORIGINAL CONCEPT
Do you wonder what is going on inside the creators head to be able to create something as boundary stretching as this
during a Fringe festival?
There must be a ‘WOW’ factor to the production to make it eligible to be nominated
WHERE DID YOU COME FROM? (Best Newcomer)
The show or group that is new to the Fringe (Fringe Virgins – never produced a fringe show before) and has a stand out
event/performance/production.
STAND OUT PERFORMER
A single performer (male or female) in any show that exhibits the most potential and/or ability in their chosen craft.
BEST OF FRINGE 06
The Best of the Best!
This will be chosen on Judges nominations and will include input from Fringe 06 staff. It is judged on performance,
production, marketing and attendance.
The successful group will excel in all areas listed above.
