Masters of the Finest - The Dux de Lux presents three piece Minuit (pronounced min-wee), live & outside in the courtyard, performing songs from their upcoming album being released in March. Minuit will be supported
by Dj Nacoa, Switch live on Sax (Heineken Thirst Winner 2005), Funk’n’SloCuts & The Kurnel MC for a summer Sunday session like not other.
The outdoor event will be fully staged in the courtyard of the Dux de Lux in the Arts Centre – Christchurch’s Cultural
Precinct. Tickets are available from Cosmic Corner for only $20 and gates will open at 5pm.
Minuit are no strangers to performing at the Dux de Lux, with the anticipated release of their much awaited new album,
an outside event held at the Dux de
Lux is only fitting for the return of one of New Zealand’s favourite acts.
The band will be supported by
- Dj Nacoa who has supported International DJ’s like Ty, Thievery Corporation and Kid Loco, as well as playing alongside
Salmonella Dub in Melbourne last year.
- Switch – Live on Sax. He has a musical style which is influenced by his knowledge of Jazz Saxophone. This element is
included in his live sets as an exciting and dynamic part of his performance.
- Funk’nSloCuts with The Kurnel MC- Ryan Beehre is producer/dj "Funk'n'SloCuts", he produces his own style of breaks as
well as producing for his band Minuit (live electronica breakbeat). "Funk'n'SloCuts" dj set will be accompanied by the
Kurnel MC. An extraordinary new talent on the mic and the perfect compliment to the dj set.The Kurnel MC, Luke Epapara,
lives also in Nelson, Luke and Beehre also play together in live hip hop funk band Master Pilot.
Minuit have taken a more modernist beat-based approach to their brand of pop music, echoing UK based outfits such as
Lamb, Massive Attack, Portishead, Bjork, Morcheeba and Tricky.
In the latest ‘Future Sound of…’ compilation album Minuit have been chosen to represent New Zealand, where worldwide
electronic heavy-hitters Bjork and Dj Krush have been asked to represent their home towns. Fronted by the enigmatic and
utterly gorgeous Ruth Carr, whose ‘coquettish yet threatening’ persona entrances – it’s live that she comes to the
forefront. Their GUNS EP, a limited run of 7000 that sold out in the first week won them ‘Best Electronic Release’ at
the B Net music awards 2005 , on top of a nomination for ‘Breakthrough Artist’ at last years Tuis.
Minuits album will be released in early March, mixed by Ryan Beehre and mastered by Emily Lazaar (The Prodigy) at The
Lodge in New York City, current fans won’t be disappointed, with a harder edge and that ‘sense of personality’ that
makes them so endearing.
