All Acts Confirmed for Radio Active’s One Love 2006 ‘Soul Shake Down Party’
Each year Wellingtonians make their way to the Hataitai Velodrome on Waitangi Day for a celebration of cultural unity, love and summer accompanied by the finest live Dub, Roots and Reggae Music.
This year, Radio Active 89fm ran Dub Idol, a competition to find a budding Wellington band to play to a crowd of over fifteen thousand at One Love 2006 ‘Soul Shake Down Party’. One Love has been nurturing bands for seven years now, helping to break the likes of Trinity Roots and Fat Freddy’s Drop, this year Dub Idol winners Pacific Bass Culture have their chance to put it to the Wellington population.
Pacific Bass Culture will play alongside New Zealand’s Cornerstone Roots, The Black Seeds and Sounds Almighty featuring The Mighty Asterix. The 7 piece electro-acoustic dub band created and produced by trombonist Duncan Taylor was up against the likes of The Red Eyes, The Aviators and Bass Camp (another Confucius project). The band has been together for a few years now and has live experience playing in Canada, but One Love 2006 will be their Wellington debut.
One Love 2006 will unfold within the lush greenery of the Town Belt overlooking Hataitai celebrating Bob Marley’s birthday and Waitangi Day. One Love is free to the public and will host food stalls, a licensed on-site bar, children’s entertainment, a chill-out tent and plenty of room for dancing and lounging.
