The Dogs to hold Family Carnival in the Wairarapa next week
Greyhound Racing New Zealand will hold the Interprovincial Challenge and Family Carnival Day next week at Solway Showground’s in Masterton on Wednesday 4 January 2005 from noon onwards. With such a great turnout from both racing enthusiasts, families and children last year, the carnival has now become an annual event in the Wairarapa.
The Interprovincial Challenge provides the opportunity for trainers throughout New
Zealand to race against their rival provinces. With $6,000 up-for-grabs, the challenge attracts some of the best greyhounds and their trainers into the Wairarapa for a three-day period.
GRNZ Chief Executive Lance Bickford said that the event is based around some fun-filled racing and some entertainment for children and families alike, including the ‘Find the Dog a Bone’ Children’s Treasure Hunt, fox terrier races, bouncy castles and the More FM ‘Chase the Bunny’ event. The event is part of the NZ Still Destination Holiday Summer Racing brand, which was recently launched by the New Zealand Racing Board.
Entry into Solway Showground’s is $5 per person and under 18 free. Each entry receives a complimentary event pack to help enjoy the day. Children who would like to enter the ‘Find the Dog a Bone’ Children’s Treasure Hunt can enter at Solway on the day.
