Aotea Centre to Ignite with Light this New Year’s Eve!
AUCKLAND, 22 December 2005— Aotea Centre is set to come alive on New Year’s Eve with amazing local entertainment and
stunning light displays for the 6th Annual First Night celebration.
First Night Auckland 2006, a free event aimed at families, features local musicians including Breaks Co-op, Anika Moa,
Nathan Haines, One Million Dollars, Dunc tha Func and Hot Grits.
“First Night is a lively and safe way for family and friends to see in the New Year in an alcohol and drug free
environment. All the entertainment is indoors this year, so you can plan ahead and not worry about the weather!” says

The festivities extend out into Aotea Square with food stalls and the grand finale extravaganza of fireworks launched
from the Sky Tower heralding in the New Year.
The event is estimated to attract up to 25,000 people into the central city.
